TORNAGRAIN RECOGNISED BY THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT THROUGH THE SCOTTISH SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE

28/09/2009
Following an announcement on 19 May by the Deputy First Minister, the proposed new settlement of Tornagrain has been recognised as an exemplar by the Scottish Government.

SSCI Exemplars

Eleven projects throughout Scotland have been awarded recognition that they are working towards 'Creating a Scottish Sustainable Community'.

The Scottish Government believe that these eleven projects have the potential to raise the profile of Scotland as a country where attitudes, skills and ambition come together to deliver developments which will stand the test of time, have lasting positive benefits for people and the environment. The Scottish Government recognition of these projects through the SSCI relates to an interest in supporting the vision of Moray Estates Development Company to create exemplar sustainable communities.

Good luck to Duncan

21/04/2009
April has seen a huge change for the Company as Duncan McConnell, the Estates' Manager for Moray Estates Development Company Limited retired on the 31st of March 2009 after more than 40 years of service.
Duncan joined Medco in 1968 as an Estates' Assistant. The knowledge he acquired and retained during this extraordinarily long term of employment was astounding. His commitment to both the Moray family and the Company has been outstanding and the office will not be the same without him.
Duncan notes some reminiscences in the February newsletter of his times with the Company.

Tornagrain Public Exhibition

02/11/2007
The Estate will, on the 7th and 8th of November, be holding the first of three public Exhibitions in Petty Church Hall, Tornagrain, to allow members of local communities to come and view the output from the first stage of the preparation of a planning application for the Estate's proposed new town at Tornagrain. The planning application for Tornagrain, which is expected to be submitted in Summer 2008, will be accompanied by an Environmental Impact Assessment, which will look at the effect that the proposal will have on the site and how any impact will be mitigated. The Estate's consultants have examined the current conditions of the site across a number of fields, such as ecology, landscape, socio-economic and transport and will be displaying their initial findings at the Exhibition. The consultants will also be present at the Exhibition and happy to discuss any issues with members of local communities and answer questions. The Exhibition will also be available to take away, as a brochure, so that its contents can be digested at leisure and comments later forwarded to the Estate.

The Exhibition will be open from 12 noon until 9 pm on the 7th of November and from 10 am until 9 pm on the 8th of November. Petty Church Hall can be found at Petty Church on the A96 opposite the existing hamlet of Tornagrain.
